Kevin H. Hughes

Articled Law Student

Kevin (he/him/his) is an articled student at Moore Edgar Lyster LLP. Kevin joins us after having obtained his law degree from the Peter A. Allard School of Law at the University of British Columbia.

While in law school, Kevin was selected for and represented UBC in the National Labour Arbitration moot competition, which involved working with lawyers and arbitrators to prepare oral submissions for a mock arbitration. Throughout law school, Kevin also conducted research in areas of labour and human rights law, assisting professors with work looking at the temporary foreign worker program, the intersection of environmental risks and workplace safety, and the organization of gig workers. Kevin was also the Editor-in-Chief (Editorial) of the UBC Law Review, where he made high level editing decisions and oversaw a team of student editors. He was also a student clinician with the International Justice and Human Rights Clinic, providing legal support to the Canadian member of the UN Human Rights Committee, and was a clinic head at the Law Students’ Legal Advice Program.

Prior to law school, Kevin studied economics and worked for an investment management company, serving institutional pensions and charitable endowments across Canada and the USA. In his spare time, Kevin can be found exploring the natural beauty of the lower mainland, whether hiking, running, biking, or skiing.
